« Last post by pulikuttan on October 22, 2012, 11:30:48 AM »I have just started to use CFX. I am trying a few test cases as part of an assignment. One of them involves a cylinder inside a rectangular duct. The cylinder is heated while the duct is cooled. I have done simulations and it all works out. But what I cannot find out is how to find the heat flux as from one of the walls. I though you could use functions as I found out the mass flow rate for another example before. But the variable heat flux does not appear. Any help on how to finish this will be appreciated.

first, fluent v4 (an old version) worked with structured mesh, but now, it works with unstru. meshe.
even with ICEM, if you make a structured mesh via blocking, you need to first convert it to unstructured mesh and then export it to fluent.

Make sure that the pressure at the outlet face is smaller than upstream pressure.
You can set mass outflow as the outlet boundary condition if you don't have backflow at the outlet.

I am using sparger as velocity inlet of air. Now I ma facing problem in gas holdup diagram. It shows that the whole container is filled with gas. Please suggest me how to set gas outlet condition in fluent (I have tried with top level with pressure outlet). Please suggest me.

I have also been trying to simulate a similar problem as the case in the PDF file which you have uploaded. However, I am having problems in getting the UDF right for the example. Can you please post the code for the UDF as a reference for the case? It would be very helpful.
