Fluent / What is adverse pressure gradient?
« on: July 18, 2012, 02:30:18 PM »
I see the term adverse pressure gradient in many papers in fluid flows involving swirl. I have looked every where but I can not figure out what is adverse and favorable pressure gradients. What is meant by these terms? Adverse means unfavorable. What may be favorable for me might not be favorable for any one else. It is a relative term what does it has to do with pressure gradients!

Are there any tips and tricks to aid convergence in periodic flow problems with specified mass flow rates in FLUENT?

Thanks.

CFX / Boiling calculations with an energy model for the vapour
« on: May 12, 2012, 11:43:21 AM »
Hi,

If either the Thermal Energy model or the Total Energy model is used for the vapour in a calculation using the RPI boiling model, then temperatures of the vapour phase are incorrect, being potentially either unphysically low or occasionally unphysically high.

Help!

When I run DPM with inviscid solution, all particle tracks are incomplete. Why? I am modeling inviscid flow solution and want to run DPM to track some particles. In the injection panel the particle velocity is set as zero. Interaction with continuous phase is turned ON. When I run the simulation I see that the particle tracks are incomplete.

I have generated a velocity profile for my inlet boundary condition which uses a continuous fluid and at least one dispersed fluid. How can I apply my profile?
