does anyone know how to simulate frost formation

Hi, all

I want to simulate a formation of frost at cold plate.

It must be divided two sub-domain: frost domain and air domain(water-vapor).

absolutely, frost thickness is increasing, so does not separate physically(meaning that does not separate geometrically)

Therefore, I use VOF model or species transport equation.

if I use VOF model, for example, VOF= 1 is air and VOF = 0 is fully ice, mean value is frost.

similarly, if i use species transport equation, mass fraction =1 is air.

however, some problems.

If I use species transport equation, the transferred region of temperature is increasing.

i use volume-weighted density. i think this is a cause.

So, i use ideal-gas density, it's fine. does not increase temperature but mixture density is not proper value

for example, species1 = 100, species2 =1000, mixture density is between 100 and 1000, i think.

but, after simulation, density is below 100.

this is my e-mail address: ssamton@hanyang.ac.kr

please tell me your idea.

Try using the following properties of air:

Melting Heat=1 j/kg,
Ts=1K
Tl=2K

Thank you for your reply.

however, I'm not use solidification/melting model.

So, melting heat, Ts and Tl does not exist in material panel.

Thank you William
